Meghan Anderson is a senior wildlife biologist with the Shuswap Band, as a part of this role she is a member of the Kootenay Region Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Working Group and is working on a CWD project for the Shuswap Band. Meghan did her undergraduate degree at UBC in Natural Resource Conservation, her MSc degree on wildlife ecology at the University of Alberta, and has been working as a wildlife biologist in western Canada for over 10 years. Like many wildlife specialists in BC, Meghan is new to the topic of CWD but she has been learning lots since the discovery of CWD in the Kootenay region in 2023 due to it ability to severely impact populations of deer, elk, moose and caribou, and due to the potential health consequences for humans.

For the presentation Meghan will provide some background on CWD, the current status in BC, best management practices for hunting, and the CWD program that the Shuswap Band Implemented.
